The Carya i. Wichita
Carya illoinensis ‘Wichita’ is hardy but needs a cross-pollinator for rich fruiting. A good cross-pollinator for this is the Pawnee or Choctaw. The tree is native to America. Plant the Carya in well-drained soil and best in full sun. The height of the tree is around 7-10 metres. However, it can be pruned well in summer so that the tree is also suitable for you in the garden. The improved Carya species are very difficult to obtain, but are now available from us!
Quality note
The sweet and mild flavour of the fruit makes it versatile such as for home consumption, salad and cakes. One of the preferred varieties based on its flavour and rich gestation. The nut is somewhat longer in shape compared to the Pawnee.
